Principal's Update
15 August 2025
Today we had visitors to Room 2, our new entrant class that will be opening in Week 7. Melanie Beattie is the teacher in Room 2, and we welcome Mel and the new tamariki to Enner Glynn School.
This week we also welcomed a number of student teachers from Canterbury University and Victoria University, all in their final year of studies to become primary school teachers. Belinda (Room 14), Eloise (Room 12), Bianca (Room 8), Iang (Room 4) and Adele (Room 3) will be with us until the end of the term. We really love having student teachers in the school, the energy and ideas they bring is always welcome, and it is exciting to see a new generation of teachers coming through.
School Board Elections
With the same number of nominees as vacancies for our School Board, we do not need to go to an election.
I would like to welcome Chris Harte, Peter Van der Voorn and Alessia Agrela to our board. We look forward to the experience and perspectives you can each bring to our kura. I also congratulate Rachael Brown as being re-elected as the staff representative.
Our outgoing members, Belinda, Holly and Mitchell have made valued contributions over their term on the board, and I want to thank them all for their service to our school.
PPTA Strike
You may have heard that secondary school PPTA teachers are planning strike action over the next few weeks as they negotiate their collective agreement. This does not include primary schools and no strike is planned by primary teachers at this stage.
As with anytime the process of collective bargaining takes place, primary teachers may vote to take some form of action as part of their campaign. If any action does take place we will communicate this as soon as possible with you.
Staff Only Days
A reminder that we have two staff only days before the end of the year:
Friday 29 August
Tuesday 28 October (the day after Labour Day)

Maths Week
This week has been Maths Week at our school, with lots of fun challenges both in class and around the school.

We finished today with a maths trail throughout the school. Teams had to go to different stations to complete maths challenges.

Thanks to the team of children from Room 9, along with Rachael, for helping to set up the maths week challenges.
Out of Zone Enrolments
You may have spotted on our facebook page or in the Nelson Weekly that we have invited out of zone enrolments to apply for a place for 2025. If you know someone who may be interested in this, please let them know that we need to know of these intentions by September 8. Details of this process can be found on our enrolments page on our website.
Road Safety
Finally, a reminder that the dotted yellow lines on the road mean no parking. These areas are kept clear for a reason. When cars stop on the yellow lines on The Ridgeway it makes it very difficult for pedestrians to see clearly and cross safely. If there isn't a park available right outside school, you may need to keep driving until you find one.

Thanks for keeping everyone safe outside our school.
