Tēnā koutou e ngā whānau o Te Kura Enner Glynn,

Greetings to all families and students of Enner Glynn School,

Hoki mai anō, welcome back to 2025! It has been great seeing the tamariki coming in today, meeting their teachers and reconnecting with friends. There is always a positive buzz at this time of the year.

It has also been a big day for those children for whom today is their first day at our school, whether as new entrants or having come from other schools. A special welcome to you all.

I am thrilled to be taking up my new role as Tumuaki at Enner Glynn School this year. I am really excited to be getting to know the students and their families. Please come and introduce yourselves, I apologise in advance if I forget names but I will endeavour to do my best.

We have enjoyed two staff only days last week with a focus on getting to know one another and recognising our strengths as a team, as well as establishing school wide expectations. Children will be discussing these over the next few weeks in class and during our assemblies.

There have been a handful of staff changes over the summer break.

Leallen Anderson is taking leave for 2025 as she has taken up a role as a maths facilitator throughout the region. We congratulate Leallen and wish her all the best for this mahi. Suzy Andrew and Eva Cranfield will be teaching in Room 13.

Julie Barry has taken leave from her classroom role for Term 1, Melissa Corlett will be teaching this term in Room 8. Julie is focusing on structured literacy support this term.

Tracy Le Comte, our school gardener, finished at the end of last year. We will be looking to advertise for this position. In the meantime, if you are interested in some voluntary work supporting our school by tending some gardens a few hours a week, please get in touch. This could be a really fun way for a group of parents (or even grandparents) to contribute to our school community.

Our biggest (and saddest) announcement is that Tenielle in the office will be leaving us soon. Tenielle is taking up an office manager’s position at Salisbury School. While we are all really sad to be saying goodbye, we recognise what a great opportunity this is for her. Tenielle’s last day will be February 21, and I am sure many of you will want to wish her well before she leaves.

There are a few upcoming events that will be communicated through class notices. Please pencil in the evening of Wednesday 19 February for our meet the teachers school picnic. More details will come out soon.

Looking forward to an exciting year full of learning.

Ngā mihi,

John O’Regan
