Principal Update Week 7 Term 4, 2021

Tēnā koutou katoa.

This week:

- Farewells/Staff Leaving

- Volunteers and proof of vaccination

- Covid protection framework

- No events bringing large numbers into the school (Yr 6 farewell will be virtual event)

- Reports

Farewells

  • This term we farewell Katrina O'Connor. Katrina has been with us for a number of years and will be sorely missed. We wish Katrina all the very best as she completes her study and moves on to new things. We also wish Wendy Hancock the best as she takes leave from her teaching role in the school in 2022.

Volunteers

  • All volunteers now need at least one dose of the Covid Vaccine and need to be fully vaccinated by the start of next year. Please bring your vaccine pass in to the office so we can log you into our system as a volunteer. This information will be private and only used by classroom teachers when planning events. If you have only had one dose, please show us your current "my covid record" screen.

Covid Protection Framework

  • Comparatively schools are not seen as environments where significant spread has occurred. Public Health measures are still the best way of dealing with this. SO, please stay home if sick and get tested, keep scanning in, distance, wear a mask if you choose and wash hands regularly.

  • We will keep our current settings until the start of next year - this means that we are still NOT allowed to host gatherings etc. The Year 6 farewell event will be held virtually on facebook live.

In the event of a positive case in the school

  • The school is unlikely to need to close.

  • Some classes may need to learn from home if they are deemed close contacts to the original case.

  • We will communicate situation with you and provide required information should such an event occur.

Reports

  • Coming home Friday - the video will have an explanation starting at 3m:44s.

  • Students who have been at school less than 6 months will not receive this report. Students who have been at school between 6-12 moths will, but don't be too concerned if achievement levels are not in expected range given they have been here less than a year (speak to your child's teacher if there are any concerns).

End of Year/Start of Year

  • Remember that we finish on the 14th of December at 3pm. There is an optional tidy up day in the 15th which will finish at 11am.

  • We start the 2022 school year on the 2nd of February at the normal time.

Have a great week.

:-)
