Principal Update - Week 6, Term 4 - 2022

Kia ora koutou.

Class Placements

I would like to thank our community for their support with this. I acknowledge those who have found this change process hard, but also reinforce that we will support your children through it. I thank you for making contact and remind those considering contacting me that it is now impossible to make changes to these classes. Social groups do change over the years at school, and our students will be supported to help them adjust and enjoy these changes - and the perceived challenges that it may bring. Further to this, we do start this process nice and early to give us all plenty of time to come to terms with it. Thanks again for the understanding.

Staffing changes for 2023

Further to the announcement last fortnight about new staff joining us, I am pleased to announce that two more new staff will be joining us in 2023. We welcome LIsa Tulie and Rachel Brown to our teaching team for 2023. We know that you will welcome these two wonderful teachers to our community. They are looking forward to joining us.

I would also like to announce that our Administrator Kim Egan, who has been on leave for the last two terms, will also be leaving us in 2023. I would like to thank Kim for her contributions over the last three and a half years and we wish her, Paul and the girls the very best for 2023 and beyond. No doubt we will see her around and about again! We will make announcements about replacements in due course, but in the meantime Karen and Tenielle in the office will be able to help you out.

School Pool

Our pool is currently being painted (or this work will start late next week) to ensure the surfacing is less abrasive and better for the students. Because of this our pool will not be open for use for another three weeks as this cures prior to refilling the pool. Key fobs, or updating old fobs, will be available from the office next week. Please remember that the pool will not be ready for use until after school finishes on the 15th of December.

Huge thanks to all of our volunteers!!!!!!

To anyone who has:

Driven us somewhere, come to camp (or planning to in a fortnight!), coached a team, baked a cake, helped us in class, helped on sports days, marshalled a cross country course, helped us raise funds, cooked a sausage, set up a gazebo, put away journals, read with students OR supported us in any other way… We want to say a big THANK YOU!

Thanks to all who have helped us over the year! It has been wonderful and we appreciate your support!

This is not only from me, but from all of the students and staff.

Term Dates 2023

Term dates for 2023 are available from our website. Go to our main menu and choose 'About Us'. The link is in the submenu. The first day of 2023 with the students is Tuesday the 31st of January.

Final day of 2022

Our final day of the year will be the 15th of December and school will close at 3pm. There will be some tidy up the following morning, but this is generally just for teachers as we move classrooms and some equipment. Any students with us on this day must be picked up by 11am.

Finally

Just to let you all know that my last message for the year will be on the 12th of December - not the 8th of December. :-)

Thanks to you all and have a great fortnight. Please enjoy a quick video below of our Yr 6s walking on the Abel Tasman Coastal Track earlier this week.

:-)
