Principal's Update- End of Term 2

As we finish Term 2 we sadly farewell Mrs Barry today. Julie has been at our school for five years and across this time has worked across all year levels. Julie has had a huge impact on supporting learners in our school, whether in her classroom teaching roles or with the learning support programmes she takes.

We are really proud of Julie's success at winning an RTLB position and we know that she will continue to work tirelessly to support learners across the region.

Ngā mihi, Julie, kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui.

Matariki

Manawatia a Matariki, thank you for coming along to celebrate with us last Wednesday and share this special occasion.

Special thanks to those who helped out with our kai, and the contributions from The Mad Butcher Stoke for the sausages, The Veggie Guy Stoke for the soup ingredients and MS motors for the community BBQ.

Looking ahead to next term...

Staff Only Day

Next term we have a staff only day on Friday 29 August. School will be closed this day to allow for our professional development with the new maths curriculum.

There will be another Staff Only Day in Term 4 and we will confirm the date of this as soon as we have it confirmed.

Hero

Also next term we are starting to use our new Student Management System- Hero. This won't have a significant impact for whānau at first. We will be sharing details on how you can sign up to Hero to see school updates and communications later in the term (this will eventually be our one-stop-shop for school communication and reporting).

Please note, if you already have the Hero parent app (most likely due to having a child at another Hero School like Broadgreen Intermediate) you will see your Enner Glynn child pop up some time during the holidays. This is okay, you won't have to do anything.

Strategic Planning

The Board of Trustees met last night and began to look at our next Strategic Plan, which will come into effect next year. We discussed our community consultation done so far, and who are the invested parties we still need to engage with. Early next term we will be inviting whānau Māori to our first runanga matua, and we are looking to seek feedback from those children who have recently arrived at our school.

We are also heading towards our election cycle for new board members. There will be a call for nominations early next term. If you are interested in how you might be able to contribute to our school's governance through being a board member please consider this. If you would like to find out more about what being on the board entails please contact Lisa, our current presiding member, at l.charles@ennerglynn.school.nz

Have a safe and enjoyable term break. We look forward to seeing you all back on July 14.

Ngā mihi,

John
