Health and Safety at EGS
As a school we take Health and Safety really seriously. While we cannot protect everyone from every eventuality (and part of growing healthy, resilient children is going through the inevitable bumps and scrapes of an active childhood) we want to ensure we are eliminating or minimising any chance of serious harm.
There are a few key parts of our health and safety systems. It is important that our whole community is aware of these...
Everybody's responsibility
We need everyone to play their part in health and safety. If you see anything onsite that you are worried about, or if you have, or witness, a near miss or accident (even if it is outside of school hours) please let us know as soon as possible.
Getting to and from school safely
We understand that pick up and drop off time can be a bit hectic, particularly when the weather is wet.
Please ensure that you are following the road rules and driving to the conditions.
As we head towards winter ensure your mirrors and windows are clear of condensation so that you can see small children who may be moving fast on bikes or scooters.
Park legally. The yellow lines on the road are there for a reason. It becomes very difficult for our road patrollers to see cars coming when they are trying to look around cars.
Also remember that children biking or scootering to school must wear a helmet.
Sign in and out
We need to know who is onsite during the school day incase we have an emergency.
If you are coming in to see your child or help during the school day please sign in at the office.
Sign out when you leave.
If your child is late (any time after 9am) they need to sign in at the office.
If you need to take your child (e.g. for an appointment) please sign them out. Remember to sign back in when they return.
Update your details
If you have any details change, we need to know. These could include:
Contact details, including address, phone numbers and email address.
Access arrangements
Medical needs (all medication is administered through the office and needs to have permission granted).
Supporting on Trips and Events
We work hard to ensure that we consider and manage risks and hazards when running events offsite.
If you are a parent volunteer, please ensure that you are following the teacher's directions. The teacher will give a briefing to the students and adults prior to the trip to ensure safety.
Like on school site, safety on EOTC events is everybody's responsibility. Please let the teacher in charge know if you have any concerns.
