Term 1 wrap!

Kia ora e te whānau ō Te Kura Awaawa Iti Enner Glynn,

As we draw to the end of a term it is a great time for reflection on the successes we have shared as a school.

I have been really honoured with how warm the welcome for me has been over my first term. The children and staff are a joy to work with and I love seeing them grow in their learning and work.

Some highlights for me have been:

  • A successful swimming season, with all children extending their aquatic skills.

  • Seeing classes in operation, with the wide range of learning activities that go on every day at EGS.

  • Connecting with families at events like our school picnic or on class trips.

  • Manaaki day at Quinney's Bush.

  • Seeing children challenge themselves, whether in the classroom, on the sports field or in the playground.

  • Making friends with a Weetbix!

Staffing for Term 2

Kirsten Shinn is heading off on maternity leave next term. I want to thank Kirsten for the mahi she has done this term in Room 1, setting up our newest ākonga with a great start to their school journeys. We wish Kirsten and her family all the best as they welcome their new addition.

We welcome Whaea Louise back full time as she takes up the role in Room 1.

Melissa will be continuing to teach in Room 8 for the remainder of the year, and Julie will be supporting our literacy programme across the school, as well as some other important roles.

We are excited to announce our new caretaker once the final boxes have been ticked. Watch this space!

I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and admiration for our teaching and support staff. Their dedication to making EGS such a great place to learn is really special. I also want to thank the board for their ongoing support and guidance for setting such a positive direction for the school. Your support has certainly made my first term a memorable one for all the right reasons.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday break, we look forward to seeing you all back next term.

Ngā mihi,

John
